“I Wish Every Photoshoot Had a DJ!”

As professional South Asian Wedding Disk Jockeys, a typical event for us is usually a 3-event Indian wedding weekend, engagement, corporate party, birthday party or private event. On occasion we do also DJ a few after parties, club events and community events (like a food truck event every 4th Thursday of the month for the Metro West police department). But when our good friend Tas, who is also the talented owner of Tas Event and Design, asked us to come and DJ a styled marketing photoshoot at the Ritz-Carlton in Sarasota , how could we say no?

Typically, we are used to DJing for 300+ guest, but as this occurred during the tail-end of COVID-19 restriction we had been DJing for around 50 to 100 guests at recent events. This Photoshoot however was just a handful of people at a time, consisting of mostly hotel staff, vendors, models, and their teams. As the photoshoot was planned for both Day and Night shots (including Sunset), we arrived around noon to find the first couple of vendors beginning the Mandap setup outside on the lawn with a waterfront view. We also provided a white vinyl wrapped runway floor leading to the mandap. As you can imagine, noon in Florida outside is quite hot, not to mention some hurricane like winds that caused some unexpected issues. However, with 5-star vendors like the ones linked throughout this post - we were easily able to pivot and adjust for a successful shoot.

This was a first for our team to DJ for a photoshoot, and as we were told multiple times through out the day, by both vendors and models “Every photoshoot should have a DJ!”. It really helped the staff to setup to music and the models to engage giving the feel as if it were an actual event! One of the best compliments I personally received from the drone videographer, who does events nationwide for both Indian and Western events, was that we were one of the top 5 DJs he had ever seen! Simply seeing the team just nodding their heads or dancing to the music made the hot day cruise by and before we knew it sunset had arrived. For the final shots of the evening, something that really stood out to us was the Neon sign (as seen in the pictures below) provided by NeonVybes.

Overall, we had a great time working with these talented vendors and hope that it does become a standard to have DJs at photoshoots. Listed below are all the AMAZING vendors Instagram handles we worked with and look forward to working with again in the future!
